Be Wary Of Online Lottery Scam Using AirAsia Name

Be Wary Of Online Lottery Scam Using AirAsia Name | AirAsia has asked its customers to be wary of an online lottery scam which purportedly uses the airline’s name to solicit personal information from victims.
The e-mail scam, which has been circulating since 2011, targets Sabahans and would inform the recipients that they had won an exclusive special bonus programme from AirAsia.
It would say that AirAsia had approved a RM300,000 payment to the recipient and would ask the person to contact an individual named JK Allen, through a dodgy e-mail such as or
The e-mail specifically asks recipients to include information like their name, address, occupation and telephone number.
AirAsia Group legal head Amir Faezal Zakaria, who lodged a police report yesterday, said the airline does not engage any third party to organise contests or make announcements on its behalf.
“As far as we know, there have been no reported losses or complaints about this scam, but we want the police and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to investigate and take action against those using AirAsia’s name,” he said.
Amir Faezal also warned of individuals posing as AirAsia representatives offering seat tickets which were way below their actual prices.
“Sometimes, they even offer free tickets. Our ticket prices are already low enough as it is. If someone is offering you something that is too good to be true, there must be a catch,” he said - The Star online
